KROGER TRAINING AND CAREER PATH FOR ASSISTANT STORE MANAGERS

Kroger’s program for becoming an Assistant Store Manager in the United States is conducted in collaboration with the American-German Chamber of Commerce AHK-USA and with Technical Institutes such as “Machina Lonati” in Cleveland, “ITS Excellence in Agribusiness” in Chicago, and “ITS Foundation for Business Services” in Atlanta, where the theoretical training sessions will take place. The positions for Assistant Store Managers trained through this program are distributed in Kroger’s stores across many regions of the United States, including Ohio, Illinois, and Georgia.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates for Kroger’s training and career path for Assistant Store Managers must meet the following criteria:

  • Ages between 18 and 29 years old.
  • High school diploma or vocational diploma (obtained through four-year integrated IeFP programs with an additional fifth year of IFTS).
  • Willingness to undergo theoretical training at one of the participating Technical Institutes (approximately 1 week per month at the designated ITS institute).
  • English proficiency at the A2/B1 level.
  • Flexibility, proactivity, and initiative.
  • Interest in teamwork and the ability to take on responsibilities and solve problems promptly and pragmatically.

STRUCTURE OF THE KROGER TRAINING AND CAREER PATH PROGRAM

The dual Kroger program spans 2 years of training and employment, with a work contract in place from the beginning. Below, we summarize the content and timeline of the program’s various phases:

  • Start of the “Kroger 2 your career” training and career path program, scheduled for October or November 2023.
  • Theoretical training at the designated Technical Institute (Cleveland, Atlanta, or Chicago) for approximately 1 week per month. During these sessions, candidates will receive education in economics, marketing, management, logistics, and retail.
  • Employment at a Kroger store for on-the-job training, comprising 3 weeks per month. During this phase, Assistant Store Manager apprentices will engage in the daily operations of Kroger stores. They will work alongside the Store Manager in managing the store’s commercial and financial aspects and become a point of reference for colleagues and customers.
  • Upon completion of the two-year program: Access to exams for obtaining the Assistant Store Manager ITS diploma and the Certification from the American-German Chamber of Commerce, both of which hold international recognition in the job market and attest to the practical skills acquired through on-the-job training.

CONTRACT AND WORKING CONDITIONS

The Kroger training and career path program for becoming an Assistant Store Manager includes employment with the company from day one. The proposed employment contract is that of High Education and Research Apprenticeship, which encompasses work in Kroger stores as well as training phases at the designated ITS institute.

Participants are expected to work full-time, and they will receive a regular monthly salary throughout the entire 2-year program.

The theoretical training, which takes place approximately 1 week per month, can occur in Ohio, at the ITS Machina Lonati in Cleveland, in Georgia, at the Foundation ITS for Business Services in Atlanta, or in Illinois, at the ITS Excellence in Agribusiness in Chicago.
